UncleNox

UncleNox is a cartoon portrait with long hair, facial hair and a cap. Twitch originally carried a rougher version of the same character, then replaced it with the cleaner drawing used today. The pose, hair, cap and facial-hair design stayed recognizably intact across the redraw.

Dota 2 viewers gave UncleNox a second identity through Alliance player Jonathan "Loda" Berg. By 2015, chat was using UncleNox as Loda shorthand because viewers thought the two looked alike. Alliance later joined the joke, telling fans to get UncleNox ready before pre-game words from Loda.

The joke was resemblance, not identity: UncleNox became a Loda reaction without actually being a portrait of Loda.

Viewers type UncleNox in Twitch chat for Loda and Alliance callbacks. Dota viewers have also paired it with "HOW IS THAT BALANCED" when a play or game mechanic looks absurdly unfair.
