TwitchVotes shows Twitch's chat-bubble logo with a white checkmark, turning the idea of casting or confirming a vote into a Twitch-branded reaction. The command also has a documented connection to Twitch's civic-participation programming.

For National Voter Registration Day on September 26, 2017, Twitch partnered with the nonpartisan voter-registration service TurboVote. Participating streamers selected the TwitchVotes Community, shared personalized TurboVote registration links and encouraged viewers to register. Twitch also ran civic-engagement interviews on its own channel and noted that it had streamed both the Republican and Democratic national conventions the previous summer.

The checkmark later became useful outside elections as well. TwitchVotes works naturally for polls, choices, confirmations and chat jokes where viewers are pretending to approve or activate something.
