Twitch Global Emote
StrawBeary
CurrentThe Origin Story
StrawBeary was already appearing among Justin.tv's face commands by March 17, 2011, making it one of the oldest commands still represented in Twitch's global set. Twitch later replaced the original artwork with a cleaner redraw of the same hand-on-chin character, preserving the pose, expression, hair and dark-red presentation.
Whatever the original StrawBeary name referred to, it predates the most obvious modern guess. An internet joke about a strawberry shaped like a bear appeared in February 2013, almost two years after StrawBeary was already in chat, so that later "strawBEARy" image cannot be the source of the Twitch command.
By 2017, the face had developed a snobbish correction joke of its own. Viewers called StrawBeary the "snob Phil emote" and paired it with the line "You are quite wrong, quite."
How to Use It
Viewers type StrawBeary in Twitch chat for mock-snobbish corrections, disagreement and deliberately condescending replies, following the documented "You are quite wrong, quite" style of use.
