Squid2

Squid2 belongs to the four Squid globals associated with Old Spice's May 2017 S.Q.U.I.D. activation for Krakengärd. `S.Q.U.I.D.` stood for `Shared Quests Uniting Individual Dudes`; Wieden+Kennedy spent ten weeks building a roughly 1,000-piece robotic squid in Brazil, then let Twitch participants take turns controlling its tentacles while chat voted, suggested names, and influenced the performance.

Squid2 separated itself from the rest of that family in Twitch's own 2017 Year in Review. The retrospective ranked Squid2 first among the year's most popular new emotes, ahead of BlessRNG, LUL, KonCha, and TheIlluminati.

Viewers type Squid2 in the four-command squid and tentacle constructions that grew around the 2017 set. Its Year in Review ranking also makes it the member of the family with the clearest platform-wide breakout during 2017.
