Twitch Global Emote
RedCoat
CurrentThe Origin Story
RedCoat shows Bill Moorier, an early Twitch engineer who later led Twitch Creative. Moorier had spent nearly twenty years as a software engineer before starting the Creative initiative, helping Twitch expand beyond game streams into art, programming, music and other live creative work.
RedCoat comes from Twitch's early tradition of staff portraits becoming global emotes. Moorier created RedCoat to call up his own face, so the emote is directly tied to the Twitch engineer who later led Creative rather than to a fictional character or outside meme.
How to Use It
Viewers type RedCoat in Twitch chat to use it. It fits Bill Moorier and early Twitch references, programming or Twitch Creative history, retro staff-emote conversations, and reactions where the pixelated portrait itself is the joke.
