PopCorn shows a purple-and-white striped carton filled with yellow popcorn. The command is literal, but the image also draws on a much older internet reaction: eating popcorn while watching entertainment, an argument or online drama unfold.

One of the best-known versions of that reaction is Michael Jackson eating popcorn during the cinema sequence in the Thriller music video. The scene became a classic reaction GIF for sitting back and watching events get interesting, and popcorn later became a general online symbol for being a spectator to drama. Twitch's PopCorn global turns that same idea into a single chat emote without using the Michael Jackson image itself.
