The Origin Story

PixelBob turns Bob Ross into a blocky pixel-art portrait, preserving his curly hair and paintbrush at chat size. The command describes the image directly: `Pixel` names the low-resolution treatment and `Bob` identifies Ross.

Bob Ross became part of Twitch's own history when Twitch launched Twitch Creative in October 2015 with an 8.5-day marathon of all 403 episodes of The Joy of Painting. Twitch created KappaRoss for that launch, not PixelBob, so the two emotes have separate creation histories.

Millions joined the first Bob Ross marathon, chat developed recurring jokes while paintings unfolded live, and Twitch continued showing Ross after the launch run because viewers wanted more. PixelBob depicts the same Bob Ross whose painting marathons Twitch continued after the 2015 launch, but it remains a separate Global from KappaRoss.

How to Use It

Viewers type PixelBob for Bob Ross, painting, Twitch Creative and callbacks to the marathons that made The Joy of Painting a recurring part of Twitch culture.
