The Origin Story

PinkMercy shows Overwatch hero Mercy in the pink-and-white design Blizzard created for its 2018 fundraiser with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Mercy is Dr. Angela Ziegler, the healer and medical scientist of Overwatch, which made the character a direct fit for a charity campaign centered on medical research.

From May 8 through May 21, 2018, Blizzard sold the limited Pink Mercy Legendary skin and donated 100 percent of the proceeds it received from those sales to BCRF. Twitch was built into the campaign as well: selected Overwatch creators ran charity streams, viewers could earn Pink Mercy-themed Twitch Drops, and three themed global emotes, PinkMercy, MercyWing1 and MercyWing2, were available across Twitch.

The campaign raised more than $12.7 million for BCRF, while viewers of 14 participating Overwatch charity streams separately donated more than $130,000. Blizzard and BCRF later brought the Pink Mercy skin back in 2024 alongside the new Rose Gold Mercy bundle, but the Twitch global belongs to the original 2018 campaign.

How to Use It

Type PinkMercy in Twitch chat to use this emote. Viewers use PinkMercy for Mercy and Overwatch references, healing and support plays, the Pink Mercy skin, Breast Cancer Research Foundation charity history and callbacks to the 2018 fundraiser. Typing the emote itself does not make a donation.
