Twitch Global Emote
OSFrog
CurrentThe Origin Story
OSFrog began with Old Spice Nature Adventure, a 2015 Twitch promotion that turned a real person in the woods into a chat-controlled game character. Twitch described the idea as Twitch Plays Pokémon with a real human, while the campaign itself required the performer to follow viewers' commands through a three-day outdoor storyline.
The `OS` points back to Old Spice, but Dota 2 gave the frog a second meaning through IceFrog, the developer associated with the game's design and balance. Dota viewers used OSFrog when a hero, ability, patch, or strategy looked absurdly overpowered or suspiciously `balanced`. When Twitch removed the Old Spice promotional emotes in January 2016, OSFrog was restored the following day.
How to Use It
Viewers type OSFrog for Dota 2 and IceFrog balance jokes, especially when a hero, item, patch, or mechanic looks unfairly strong, broken, or questionably balanced. It also remains a callback to Old Spice Nature Adventure.
