OSbury

OSbury came from Old Spice's 2015 Nature Adventure promotion on Twitch. The three-day campaign put a real performer in a staged wilderness and let Twitch chat send commands controlling what he did, turning a person into the avatar of a live-action game. Twitch itself compared the idea with the crowd-controlled format popularized by Twitch Plays Pokémon.

OSbury showed a shovel working a mound of dirt. "OS" shortened Old Spice and "bury" described the action in the image. The Old Spice globals remained in Twitch culture after the promotion, and OSbury was discontinued in early 2016.

When this emote was active, viewers typed OSbury in Twitch chat to use it. Viewers used it when something was being buried, when a player or idea seemed finished, after a bad failure or elimination, and as a throwback to Old Spice's Twitch promotion and its chat-controlled wilderness experiment.
