Twitch Global Emote
OSbury
RemovedThe Origin Story
OSbury came from Old Spice Nature Adventure, a three-day Twitch experiment that began on April 16, 2015. Old Spice put a real performer into a staged wilderness and let Twitch chat choose what he did by sending commands. Twitch summarized the idea as Twitch Plays Pokémon with a real human, turning a person into the avatar of a live-action game.
OSbury shows a shovel working a mound of dirt. `OS` shortens Old Spice and `bury` names the action in the picture, so the command reads like one of the practical verbs a chat-controlled wilderness adventure would need. The emote survived as a relic of an early period when Twitch was testing crowd-controlled live advertising rather than only game streams.
How to Use It
When this emote was active, viewers typed OSbury in Twitch chat to use it. Viewers used it when something was being buried, when a player or idea looked finished, after a bad failure or elimination and as a callback to Old Spice's chat-controlled Nature Adventure.
