MrDestructoid

MrDestructoid is the green robot head of Destructoid's long-running mascot. The mascot was based on the 1980s Smoking Robot toy, which explains the circular eyes and gridded mechanical mouth. Mr. Destructoid also became a portable game-media character, appearing in titles including Bomberman Live, Bomberman Ultra, Agent Moo: Maximum Overdeath, Eternity's Child, and Raskulls.

Twitch chat later gave the robot an especially durable second meaning: bots and automation. By 2017, MrDestructoid was embedded in anti-viewbot copypasta, and the same robot shorthand continues around suspicious viewer counts, automated accounts, AI characters, and literal robots.

Viewers type MrDestructoid in Twitch chat for Destructoid nostalgia, robots and AI, or jokes about bots and suspiciously automated behavior. It has a particularly long Twitch history as a viewbot reaction.
