GalaxyUnpacked took its name directly from Samsung's Galaxy Unpacked launch event. The emote appeared in Twitch chat during the January 2024 Unpacked week, when Samsung unveiled the Galaxy S24 series and made Galaxy AI the centerpiece of the launch.

Samsung also used Twitch for gaming activity around that Unpacked period. The first #PlayGalaxy Cup brought 40 gamers from 16 countries into a PUBG Mobile tournament streamed from Samsung Mobile's Twitch channel. The command itself remained the name of Samsung's device-launch event, while Twitch was also carrying one of the company's gaming broadcasts around the same launch.

When this emote was active, viewers typed GalaxyUnpacked in Twitch chat to use it. Viewers used it around Samsung Galaxy Unpacked, Galaxy S24 and Galaxy AI announcements, Samsung mobile-device discussions, and the gaming broadcasts surrounding that launch period.
