FeverFighter

FeverFighter began as a superhero Ethan Washburn drew while being treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Ethan was diagnosed at seven in 2010, and treatment left his immune system weak enough that any fever meant being admitted to St. Jude. That summer he drew a red-and-orange caped hero with flames coming from his head and made Fever Fighter impervious to the problem that could send him back into the hospital.

The drawing later became the mascot of St. Jude PLAY LIVE, the hospital's global fundraising community for gamers and content creators. Fever Fighter now appears in dedicated streaming graphics and merchandise, including a vinyl figure. In 2025, St. Jude and Tongal launched an animated Fever Fighter project based on Ethan's artwork and opened the character's future stories to contributions from artists and creators.

Viewers type FeverFighter in Twitch chat during St. Jude PLAY LIVE fundraisers, donation milestones, and direct references to the superhero Ethan created to defeat the fever that was dangerous during his leukemia treatment.
