:/

:/ turns a slanted slash into the mouth of an uneasy sideways face. Twitch's robot artwork keeps that idea visible with open eyes and a crooked mouth, giving the reaction an uncertain, unconvinced or mildly annoyed look.

Twitch recognizes :/, :\, :-/, and :-\ as variants of the same artwork. That mix has roots in Twitch's older themed smiley system: an April 2013 TwitchTV list used :\ in the standard robot set while the purple Turbo set used :/. Today, both slash directions, with or without the optional hyphen nose, resolve to the same unsure reaction.

Viewers type :/ in Twitch chat to use this emote. The same family also includes :\, :-/, and :-\. It works for an awkward moment, a questionable decision, mixed feelings, mild skepticism, or a play that leaves chat unsure whether to approve or complain.
