Twitch Global Emote

DogFace

Current
DogFace

The Origin Story

DogFace shows indie game developer Kyle Pulver, not a dog. The command is the punchline to an old Twitch prank in which viewers told newcomers that typing "Dog Face" without the space would produce FrankerZ, the dog emote that had become especially popular with speedrunning communities.

Pulver carried that joke into his indie game Offspring Fling. When he added Steam trading cards and emoticons, he created a  emoticon as a tribute to FrankerZ and to the speedrunners who played Offspring Fling. The FrankerZ-like Steam image initially ran into an approval problem and had to be removed.

Twitch administrator Horror helped Pulver get permission to restore the FrankerZ tribute on Steam. Horror then finished the joke by making Pulver himself a Twitch global under the DogFace command. Pulver announced the story on August 23, 2013 with the explanation that DogFace on Twitch was his face, while  on Steam remained his tribute to FrankerZ and speedrunning.

How to Use It

Type DogFace in Twitch chat to use this emote. Viewers use DogFace for Kyle Pulver, Offspring Fling, FrankerZ and speedrunning references, and callbacks to the old "Dog Face, no space" prank that produced the command.
