DinoDance

DinoDance was Twitch's first animated global emote, a small pixel dinosaur that bounces through a looping dance instead of holding a static pose. It arrived in July 2023 and was adopted quickly: within weeks, DinoDance was already among the most common chat terms during RTA in Japan Summer 2023, a major Japanese speedrunning event.

Twitch briefly "evolved" DinoDance for Pokémon Day on February 27, 2024, replacing the familiar dinosaur with a more dragon-like design and announcing the gag in Pokémon's evolution language. The original dancing dinosaur returned afterward and is again the image attached to the current command.

Viewers type DinoDance in Twitch chat for music, dancing, celebrations, victory laps, breaks between matches, and moments when chat wants to move in rhythm with the stream.
