DarkMode

DarkMode became the middle of a Twitch interface Easter egg: typing `PowerUpL DarkMode PowerUpR` in chat toggled the site's dark theme. The exact three-emote sequence was circulating by September 2017, and viewers independently documented the working toggle again in 2019 and 2021.

The timing matched Twitch's wider dark-interface rollout, which brought Dark Mode to its mobile and desktop apps during 2017. The emote's distinctive Twitch history is therefore not the unidentified face in the picture, but the fact that chat itself could be used as a theme switch.

Viewers type DarkMode for dark-theme jokes and as a callback to the old `PowerUpL DarkMode PowerUpR` sequence that toggled Twitch between light and dark modes.
