DAESuppy depicts Conan "Suppy" Liu, the StarCraft II Zerg player who competed professionally during the game's early esports era, including with Evil Geniuses. Liu has preserved the emote's history himself: he says DAESuppy was created during his pro-gamer years and remembers fellow gamers posting it in Twitch chat because the support gave him extra energy to win.

The emote was already part of StarCraft II meme culture by 2013, when community documentation was simply listing `DAESuppy` as "Suppy has an emote." The command preserves his player name and the smiling face makes it a natural cheer, but the meaning of the `DAE` prefix has not been reliably recovered.
