Twitch Global Emote
Butterfinger
RemovedThe Origin Story
Butterfinger makes the candy bar itself the emote: yellow wrapper, blue-and-red name and the product front and center. The command has a second meaning that predates the candy. Nestlé's brand history says Curtiss Candy was promoting Butterfinger as early as 1923, while 1920s sportscasters were already using `butterfinger` for athletes who could not hold onto a baseball or football.
The brand later carried that sports-and-gaming wordplay onto Twitch. At TwitchCon San Diego 2022, Butterfinger ran an Overwatch challenge where attendees survived head-to-head rounds for rewards, and players who reached the top earned a live match against a squad of Butterfinger Twitch streamers under the `Game Better with Butterfinger` campaign.
