The Origin Story

BloodTrail shows Meat Boy from Super Meat Boy, battered but still grinning and giving a thumbs-up. The command names a real game mechanic: Meat Boy smears red residue across floors, walls and hazards as he moves, and those stains remain through repeated attempts at the same level.

Team Meat designed failure to happen quickly without forcing the player to wait. The game removes the normal lives system, keeps levels short and restarts Meat Boy almost immediately after death. Clearing a level then triggers a replay in which the successful run appears alongside the failed attempts that came before it. The accumulated red trail records where those attempts travelled and died.

Twitch chat also carried BloodTrail into Dota 2. A period emote guide records viewers posting it when Bloodseeker was picked, using the command's `Blood` wording as a character-name joke.

How to Use It

Viewers type BloodTrail for Super Meat Boy, repeated deaths and difficult platforming attempts, especially after finally surviving a route marked by earlier failures. Older Dota chat also used it for Bloodseeker references.
