BigSad

BigSad became Twitch's community-selected successor to BibleThump in September 2024. Twitch announced that its rights to BibleThump, the crying Isaac face from The Binding of Isaac, would expire at the end of September and asked viewers to choose among three replacement designs by artist Symon Redd: BigSad, UnBearable, and LayersOfSad.

BigSad won with 44.5 percent of the vote after roughly 18,000 votes were cast. It then joined Twitch's global set as BibleThump left. Its blocky purple face and oversized tears preserve the basic role BibleThump had served for years without reusing Isaac.

Viewers type BigSad in Twitch chat for genuinely sad news, heartbreaking game moments, bittersweet goodbyes, or exaggerated mock tragedy. It is also the direct modern callback for situations where older Twitch chat would once have used BibleThump.
